Denim Days

Jeans have been an American staple forever. Whether worn as a casual everyday pant option or to withstand the demand of a rugged job, the dependability of denim pants effectively stands the test of time. Venture out on the street today and youโ€™ll likely find a significant portion of people who woke up and chose jeans.

For myself, jeans were generally an after work, on the weekend go-to. My office job required a bit more formal attire, leaving those jeans to rest for my weekend warrior alter-ego. At the office we were afforded a casual Friday that eventually shifted to casual any day. My dependence on a reliable pair of jeans increased. Then Covid hit and we were sent home, upending my heavily weighted pie-chart distribution of non-denim vs. denim pant choice for the workday.

Enter my jeans inventory. While I wore my jeans numerous time before washing (unless really dirty), as the experts recommend, the increased usage began to wear them down quicker. I needed a pair or two more to supplement. The world of jeans is very large with numerous producers all trying to win your business. It can be daunting to find that perfect pair, often times requiring a bit of test-and-learn before landing on a trusted pair.

In my effort to support American workers, I narrowed my options down to a smaller subset of denim suppliers based in the U.S. After reviewing the story behind these companies and the available products, I went with Wiesmade. Based in Petaluma, CA, Wiesmade is a multi-generational family owned business that farms, mills, and sews their jeans in the United States.

After buying a pair of the Sam Fit Jean, I can confirm the craftsmanship delivered by this company. On my journey of updating my closet, Wiesmade has made the cut (pun intended). Their premium denim selection including knitwear offerings, surely has something for anyone looking to update their closet with quality U.S. made apparel.
